There are a number of different ways to grow your business online and it can be overwhelming with all the different tools and resources that are available.
But there is 1 critical tool that you can not afford to overlook – LinkedIn.
In this video successful author, entrepreneur, and former American professional Arena League football player, Lewis Howes, shares his top 5 marketing tips to grow your business on LinkedIn.
We all want more leads, traffic, and sales. But, there’s a different approach when you’re using LinkedIn.
The great Zig Ziglar has a great approach to this. Zig said “You can have anything you want in life if you will just help other people get what they want in life.” That’s a great quote and message for all areas of your business and life.
This message becomes all the more important when using LinkedIn. When Lewis Howes first started using LinkedIn, like a lot of people, he was overwhelmed with social media.
There was Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, blogging – everything that was happening online and there are a lot more sites coming out.
A good friend and mentor of Lewis’s suggested he get on LinkedIn and focus his opportunities there. Within a couple of years Lewis had built a multi-million dollar business while leveraging pretty much only LinkedIn.
Here are the top 5 things he did to grow his business:
1. Complete Your Profile
A lot of people set up their profile with only half of it filled out. They may even complete 100% on LinkedIn’s terms, but you have got to really make it compelling.
Add advanced applications, tell people who you are, who you help, and how you help them. Really just share your story throughout your entire profile.
2. Connect with Everyone
Don’t just connect with your personal connections that you already know. Start branching out and reaching out to new people that you want to connect with. People in your industry, other leaders, people in your local market.
The more you connect with interesting people (people you don’t know), the more your opportunities are going to expand and grow.
3. Endorse and Recommend Others
The best way to receive endorsements and recommendations is to give them first. So, just start going through some of your close friends and colleagues, and start endorsing them for the skills they have and recommending them.
Leave nice little messages on their profile that are like testimonials so that other people can see how of a job they really do in business.
4. Create Your Own Targeted LinkedIn Group
Lewis created a group called the ‘Sports Industry Network.’ It now has over 100,000 of the top sports executives from around the world.
This allows him to have more influence in the sports industry. It also allows him to send a message once a week to all 100,000+ members.
This gets him more traffic, more leads, and more sales. So make sure to create your own special group.
5. Optimise Your Profile For Search Rankings
Just like you would want to optimize your website for Google keywords, you want to do the same thing on LinkedIn.
People are searching every single day for experts, thought leaders, consultants, freelancers, to hire and solve the problems in their business.
You want to make sure you add specific keywords throughout your entire profile. Once you do that you’ll start to see your profile and your name move up the rankings on LinkedIn.
If you follow the 5 steps outlined by Lewis in this article you will eventually see more traffic, leads and sales to your business by leveraging LinkedIn.
